Upton House National trust property

The National Trust own houses and gardens all over the United Kingdom, and when we were recently on holiday in Oxfordshire we visited several of their properties. This short post is written to include some of the pictures I took at one of the visits we made – Upton House in Warwickshire. We were once again fortunate with the weather and had a nice, bright sunny day for our trip. After an uneventful journey and having parked the car, we […]

More Fuji X-T1 pictures from Stowe

Last week, whilst we were away on holiday, I posted a picture that I’d taken at the Stowe National Trust property with my Fuji X-T1 and Samyang 12mm combination. Well, we are back from holiday and I’ve had time to sort through the rest of the pictures I took and I’ve included the best ones in this post. We were fortunate the the weather was very good for our day at Stowe, which meant many of the pictures had nice, […]

Fuji X-T1 wide angle picture from Stowe

A few days ago we visited another National Trust property at Stowe in Buckingham and I used it as another opportunity to use my Fuji X-T1 and Samyang 12mm lens combination. Although I took many photos, I’ve not yet been through all of them and decided which I like best, but I thought this picture was one of my better ones as I reviewed it in the camera. It was taken across one of the lakes, looking at the House […]

Southwell Workhouse NT Property

I posted a couple of days ago about how we had visited the Southwell Workhouse National Trust property and also how it gave a proper workout for my Fuji X-T1 and new Samyang 12mm lens. In this follow up post I’m going to show the rest of the pictures I took and give a few more impressions of using the combination. As I said in the last article, this type of photo opportunity was exactly the reason I bought the […]

Eyam Hall favourite pictures

When we were in Derbyshire earlier in the year one of the places we visited was Eyam Hall, which is a National Trust property only a few miles from the cottage we stayed in.  We were fortunate because the weather was glorious, and so it presented many photo opportunities for me with both the Pentax K-5 DSLR and Z-1P film SLR. Eyam Hall is an interesting place for a visit, although there is no car park at the actual property […]

Tattershall Castle battle re-enactment

Last week I posted a picture of Tattershall Castle National trust property where we visited whilst we were on holiday in Lincolnshire. Now I’m back, and have access to a proper Internet connection, I can upload a few more pictures which I took on the day of the battle re-enactment. These pictures can be viewed full size here. Unfortunately, on the day, we were too far away from the loudspeakers to properly hear what was being announced, so I don’t […]

Tattershall castle in Lincolnshire

A couple of days ago we went to the National Trust’s Tattershall Castle in Lincolnshire while they had a battle re-enactment and I used it as an opportunity to take pictures with both my Fuji X-T1 mirror-less and Pentax MZ-3 35mm slr loaded with colour slide film.  Although it will be  few days before I can get the colour slides developed from the MZ-3, one of the best of the Fuji X-T1 pictures is included below. This picture was imported […]

Gunby hall National Trust property

Today we visited the Gunby Hall national trust property in Lincolnshire and below is one of the better pictures I took during our visit. This picture was taken using my Fuji X-T1 mirror-less camera and a Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5 super wide angle lens. The lens, which is pentax K mount, was fitted to the camera body with a simple adapter which allowed me to adjust the aperture, although I couldn’t tell the actual aperture used. Fortunately because it was a […]

Snowshill Manor National Trust pictures

When we stayed in Gloucestershire recently one of the places we visited was the Manor house at Snowshill, which is a national trust property and this post has a collection of photos which I took whilst we were there. I actually took two cameras with me on the visit to snowshill – my Pentax K5 DSLR, and a Minolta 505si super 35mm film camera fitted with a standard minolta 28 – 80 kit zoom. Each of the pictures shown here […]

Dover's Hill in Gloucestershire

This is a post with some pictures of The National Trust’s Dover’s Hill in Gloucestershire which I took on a recent visit there. We only stayed a few minutes at this viewpoint over the Gloucestershire countryside, so I didn’t get many pictures, but these were my favourite of the 20 or so I took. A couple of these shots were actually constructed from 3 images taken using the camera’s bracketing function and merged using Lightroom’s new ‘merge to HDR’ function […]

Blickling Hall in late December

Today we went to Blickling Hall, a National Trust property in Norfolk, for a visit. It was one of those really cold, but very clear days that you get in the winter with the sun very low in the sky which made the scenery beautifully lit up but also increased the possibility of flare if the sun made it into any of the shots. Unfortunately, I misread the website notification of the opening times so when we arrived, although the […]

Sudbury Hall in Derbyshire

Today we took a trip to the National Trust property Sudbury Hall in Derbyshire. It was a lovely day so we decided to visit Sudbury Hall since we were staying with Jan’s parents in Loughborough and it was only about 30 minutes drive away. As well as the hall itself, the National Childhood museum is also situated on the same site, so we thought there was a reasonable chance that James and Emma would also enjoy the trip. Obviously, it […]
