    Garden Insects

Over the last few weeks it’s become a bit of a habit to go into the garden at some point in the day with my camera to see if I can get any pictures of the insects and spiders which crawl and fly around the plants. Although neither my wife Janice or I are naturally gifted gardeners, we have been steadily improving the condition of the garden and introducing more plants and flowers  in order to encourage more insects and...

    Garden macro pictures

I think one of the main reasons I like macro photography is because there are subjects everywhere you look. I went out this morning with my Sony Nex 6 and Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro lens and I’d found these willing insects within a few minutes just in my garden. I took these pictures at about 8am, and that’s a good time to be out taking macro photos because the sun hasn’t fully warmed the insects up so they are still...

    The best of Mum’s Garden

We went to visit Mum and Dad this bank holiday weekend and I took a few photos around Mum’s garden. These are the best of the pictures, which were all taken with a Sony Nex 6 using M42 mount manual lenses. Specifically the lenses I used were a 55mm f/1.8 Super Multi Coated Takumar, a 55mm f/2.0 SMC Takumar and a 135mm f/3.5 Super Multi Coated Takumar. Mum’s Garden Photos

    Macro picture of Chives

Whilst I was writing my post about macro options at the weekend I felt inspired to go out into the garden with my Tamron 90mm macro lens mounted on my Nex 6 to put into practice some of the techniques I’d been writing about. This picture was taken in the small herb garden where we have mint, basil etc growing and I found the chives had small flowers growing. I got down low so I could focus on one flower...

The Bishops Palace – Wells Cathedral

When we went on holiday in Somerset last year we stayed at a place called Wookey Hole which is about 2 miles from the city of Wells. Because we had some pretty rotten weather (and the London Olympics were on the TV which we were quite interested in) we didn’t travel too far, but one of the places we did visit was Wells Cathedral and the Bishops Palace. The picture above was taken with my Pentax K-5 fitted with a...

    Wild flower

This is a shot I took in my Mothers garden in Fakenham in Norfolk. I have no idea of the type of flower, but it had been raining and I was wondering round the garden looking for some nice flower shots and grabbed this one. Pentax K200D Tamron 70 – 300mm tele macro zoom 1/500 sec f/5.6 iso 640
