Emma in the park at Crich

When we recently went to the Crich tramway museum in Derbyshire I took a lot of pictures with my Pentax K5, but I also took along a Pentax MZ-3 loaded with Ilford HP5+ black & white film. The picture above is one of the pictures I took that day, and developed in Rodinal a couple of days ago. This was taken with a Sigma 24 to 70 autofocus zoom lens fitted to the MZ-3 set to about 60mm and about […]

Favourite pictures – my Daughter Emma

This is a picture of my daughter Emma which I took during a recent trip to York Minster. I had been taking some pictures of the rail that she is posing next to using a Takumar 55mm f/1.8 lens fitted on my Camdiox focal reducer and Sony Nex 6 when she jokingly tried to get into the picture by jumping up into shot. I asked her to stay there for a minute and took the picture to the left which […]

Photoshop filters – radial blur 2nd attempt

Yesterday I posted a picture which used the Photoshop radial blur filter to create an image which had quite a dramatic look and was noticeably different from the original. I thought the result was quite good but one comment I received was that the effect was not really appropriate for that type of filter. Having thought again about the picture I think the comment was a fair and reasonable one so I thought I would have a go at producing […]

Emma

We went to Cambridge today to meet my Mum and Dad, Brother and Sister and families for a party to celebrate my mothers 80th birthday. After we had eaten we went for a walk and I took this picture of my daughter Emma as she was looking for bottle tops amongst the trees (I know – bottle tops ? She decided to collect them today). This was post processed in Lightroom with a reduced clarity to give it a dreamy […]

Portrait – Emma examines a gate

This picture was taken several years ago when my Daughter was about 4 years old. She was examining the rusty gate in nannies garden, working out how the latch worked when I snapped her with my Pentax K200D. She was completely oblivious to me so I got a picture of her looking natural. Pentax K200D Tamron 70-300mm zoom 1/400sec f/5.6 iso200   Related articles My Daughter in the Park (simonhawketts.wordpress.com)

Emma

This is a picture of my Daughter Emma taken on a holiday in Norfolk in August 2011. We were on the North Norfolk Steam Railway and I called to her as she was looking from the window. She turned and I got this shot which I think is nice because she kept a natural look. By contrast my Son James always puts on a ‘posed’ look when I have a camera so doesn’t photograph as well! I used a Tamron […]

My Daughter in the Park

This picture is one of those which is made in post processing. We were walking round the boating lake in Alexandra Palace in North London and I had a Tamron 10 – 24mm Super zoom fitted to my Pentax K-5. Emma was running off in the distance and I got to a low position and took the picture shown to the left; portrait orientation with the rails leading the eye into the picture. As always I took the picture in […]
