Ricoh GXR S10 Lens Unit

I’ve owned my Ricoh GXR Camera for a couple of weeks now and discovered a few days ago that SRS Microsystems are also selling parts of this system off cheap, and as a result I purchased a Ricoh GXR S10 lens unit to go with the P10 I already own. Ricoh GXR S10 sample pictures   I received the unit this morning, just before we were about to go out to another National Trust property, Hatfield Forest. I fitted the […]

A Day at Lords Cricket Ground

James and I went to Lords cricket ground yesterday to watch the One Day International match between England and New Zealand. It was the first time James had been to Lords and the first time since 1991 that I’d been there so it was a fairly new experience for me also. We took the train from Stevenage at 9:36 and got to Kings Cross in plenty of time for the short underground trip to St Johns Wood which is the […]

Portrait – Emma examines a gate

This picture was taken several years ago when my Daughter was about 4 years old. She was examining the rusty gate in nannies garden, working out how the latch worked when I snapped her with my Pentax K200D. She was completely oblivious to me so I got a picture of her looking natural. Emma

This is a picture of my Daughter Emma taken on a holiday in Norfolk in August 2011. We were on the North Norfolk Steam Railway and I called to her as she was looking from the window. She turned and I got this shot which I think is nice because she kept a natural look. By contrast my Son James always puts on a ‘posed’ look when I have a camera so doesn’t photograph as well! I used a Tamron […]

The Cow with a tag

We went to Holkham Beach in north Norfolk during the summer of 2010 when James was about 7 years old. I was taking some pictures and this Cow turned to look at me. As I framed up and took this picture James was tugging at my shirt so I said to him, “What is it James”? “Daddy”, he replied. “Why has that cow got a price tag in it’s ear “? Playtime in the park

I like this photo of my daughter Emma playing in the playground at Alexandra Palace in London. We had gone to Alley Pally for a paper craft fair in April 2012 because my wife Janice likes to make greetings cards, but both James and Emma get bored with commercial fairs so I took them to the Boating Lake and around the playground behind the building itself. This item of play equipment is a plastic wheel set at an angle to […]

Butterfly photographer’s helper

Last time I went to Priors wood in Stevenage to take butterfly pictures I had a helper with me.┬áMy Daughter Emma came along to see what all the fuss was about – and she brought her camera to see if she could get any pictures too. She was the ideal butterfly photographer’s helper!

Family pictures – Portrait of Emma

This is a portrait I took of my Daughter Emma in the woods at Knebworth House dinosaur park. It was one of those pictures which occurred after I’d been trying to get her to pose for a picture for several minutes. I had her looking at the camera, away from the camera, pointing into the woods and a variety of other poses. Although I took several images, none of them really stood out so I had given up and was […]

Family Pictures – Pergola

This is another picture that I took on a Family Visit to Knebworth House. Jan and the children had been walking through the pergola towards the Maze and I’d stopped to take a few pictures of the wooden tree carvings. I suddenly noticed that they had gone and when I found them they were nicely framed by the pergols in the distance with the sunlight making patterns on the ground. My camera at the time was a Pentax K200D and […]

Family Pictures – Knebworth House

We took a trip to Knebworth House in hertfordshire in April 2011 where I took this picture of James and Emma. We discovered a hollow tree, and I thought it would make a good frame for them to pose in, which it proved to be once I’d stopped them arguing about all the things that sibling seem to find to argue about. I turned out to be quite a nice picture. There was a fair amount of light but I […]

Beacon Hill in Leicestershire

We are away for a few days staying with Jan’s parents in Loughborough and have been on a trip to Beacon Hill in Leicestershire. As usual this has been an opportunity to take some photos!James presented his usual arguments that he didn’t want to go and he wouldn’t enjoy it but we packed Emma and him in the car anyway and we drove the very short drive from Loughborough to Beacon Hill lower car park. I remember that I’ve been […]
