Agfa Flexilette 35mm TLR camera

This post describes an odd looking camera of fairly unique design, the Agfa Flexilette 35mm twin lens reflex. My Flexilette camera As with so many of my vintage camera collection this Flexilette was an eBay sale which I found whilst browsing around looking to see if there were any bargains. I came upon this unit, priced at only £9.95 in a ‘buy it now’ sale, and thought it was worth a gambol. It was described as faulty with a locked […]

Yashica 635 TLR camera

The Yashica 635 TLR camera is a medium format camera with a bit of a novel twist – it can also shoot 35mm film when fitted with an adaptor. Yashica 635 TLR Images My Yashica 635 camera As I said in an earlier post, I bought this camera from eBay after I’d been offered a similar unit but at a price I couldn’t justify. It was sold as not working, but it was a relatively simple job to fix the […]

Ciro-Flex TLR sample pictures

A couple of weeks ago I bought a Ciro-Flex medium format twin lens reflex camera which needed a little bit of work to get it cleaned up and working. Once I’d done that, I loaded it up with a roll of Fuji Pro 160 colour negative film and took a walk round Fairlands Valley Park in Stevenage to try the camera out. These pictures can be viewed full sized here. Ciro-Flex Shooting Experience The Ciro-Flex is a TLR camera which […]

Ciro-flex medium format TLR camera

The Ciro-flex was an American made, twin lens reflex camera which started to be made in the early 1940s. Originally the camera was made in Detroit but in 1947 the manufacturing moved to Delaware, and since my camera has written on it ‘Delaware, Ohio’, I know my example was made after that date. Ciro-Flex Images My Ciro-Flex Camera I paid £15 for my example of the Ciro-flex which didn’t seem to be too bad for what seems to be a […]

Ciro-flex repair and clean up.

A few days ago I published a post on the techniques I used to clean and service the shutter from my Ciro-flex TLR camera. Today I’m going to show the other things I needed to do to get the Ciro-flex repair finished and the camera fully cleaned up and ready to use. Ciro-flex Repair and clean up pictures Viewfinder Other than the shutter the next most obvious problem with the Ciro-flex was the state of the viewfinder with the image […]

Ciro-flex TLR shutter strip down and service

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a nice Ciro-flex Twin Lens Reflex camera from eBay for a few pounds which was described as needing a little bit of work. One of the issues described was that the aperture blades were a bit stiff to adjust and when I received the camera I discovered (as I suspected) that the aperture blades needed to be cleaned up to remove some old grease and dirt which was sticking them together. This […]

Weltaflex TLR shooting experience

This morning I took my Weltaflex TLR with me for a walk round a rather cold and frosty Fairlands Park in Stevenage to try it out. At first I considered loading a roll of Provia 100F into the Weltaflex because I’ve received a 5 pack of this medium format slide film as a birthday present and I’m dying to give it a go, but in the end I decided that it makes more sense to try the camera out with […]

Weltaflex medium format twin lens reflex

The Weltaflex is a German made, twin lens reflex camera which first came into the world around 1954 and was made by the Welta company, although I suspect the version I have is a bit later than that since it bears the Pentacon mark on the shutter. Weltaflex Images My Weltaflex Camera I found this camera on eBay described as a fully working, nice condition camera and I thought it was a reasonable price so I bought it. As it […]

Kodak Brownie reflex samples and shooting experiences

A week or so ago I bought a pair of Kodak Brownie Reflex vintage cameras and found one had a reel of  partially exposed 127 film in. A couple of days ago I took the camera with me as I went for a walk round the town, and these are my experiences of shooting with it and the Kodak brownie reflex samples I obtained. As I described in my descriptive post about the cameras, I had to transfer the roll […]

Kodak Brownie reflex review

This is the first part of my review of one of Kodak’s very popular cameras from the early 1950’s – the Kodak Brownie Reflex. In this part I describe the camera and my reasons for buying it, in the second part I cover my experiences of shooting with it and show some sample pictures. Kodak Brownie Reflex Images My Kodak Brownie Reflex Camera I bought this camera for two reasons, both nostalgic. First I have a book called ‘Boys book […]

Lubitel 166b TLR camera

This is another camera which I inherited from my Father – a Russian made, medium format Lubitel 166b Twin Lens Reflex. Lubitel 166b Images At the time of writing, this is the only twin lens reflex camera I own. It’s a very fragile looking, tin plate and plastic affair which looks pretty poor quality, although if I look on Flickr for example pictures taken with this model of camera, it was obviously capable of some very good results. As you […]
