Bourton-on-the-water snapshots

Although there was a forecast for some rain about it turned out to be a beautiful summers day with uninterrupted  sunshine from the moment we arrived. Too much sunshine actually – I don’t like the heat much. I’d taken my DSLR kit with me which consists of a Pentax K5, Sigma 18-125mm HSM zoom, Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro, Tamron 70-300mm zoom and Tamron 10-24mm super wide angle zoom, but in fact I only used the super wide angle and the sigma std zoom for all the shots I took. In order to balance up the digital/film combination I also took along a Pentax SFXn SLR loaded with Fuji Superia 400ASA.

The only real plan we had for the day was to visit the model village which I remember going to when I was a child and we came and stayed in Gloucester with my Aunt Mary.

It was interesting to revisit and the remember the village, although when I visited as a child I don’t think there were as many people as there were on this day. There were people everywhere, including in the river itself (probably as everyone was trying to cool down) and lots of people were letting their dogs into the water as well for a splash about. As a photographer that was useful as dogs make very good photographic subjects, so I got some nice portrait shots of them. In particular I took some shots of a beautiful spaniel which, for the purposes of adding a title to my pictures I named Eddie although Emma told me later she heard it’s owners call it Maggie.

After we got home I imported the pictures into Lightroom and picked the shots which I found the most appealing to include in this post.
