Sutton Hoo - A bowl of flowers
A bowl of flowers

This picture was taken in Tranmer House at Sutton Hoo in Suffolk during our recent holiday. It ls a very simple picture but it’s my favourite of all the pictures I took during that day because of the light caught on the flower’s petals and the out of focus area in the background. It’s quite normal to isolate a subject by throwing the background out of focus, but I normally aim for a completely blurred background. I think this effect – out of focus but still distinct enough to have some interest – is one I’ve not used enough and I’m intending to make more of it.
