The Bishops Palace and Gardens, Wells Somerset

When we went on holiday in Somerset last year we stayed at a place called Wookey Hole which is about 2 miles from the city of Wells. Because we had some pretty rotten weather (and the London Olympics were on the TV which we were quite interested in) we didn’t travel too far, but one of the places we did visit was Wells Cathedral and the Bishops Palace.

The picture above was taken with my Pentax K-5 fitted with a Sigma 18-125mm HSM zoom from a position up on the wall next to the moat which surrounds the palace. It was a fairly murky day so there was a pretty uniform grey sky, but at least that led to a fairly uniform lighting.

  • Pentax k-5
  • Sigma 18-125 HSM zoom
  • 1/100sec
  • f/7.1
  • 18mm
  • iso160
